At all levels of our business, we bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the marine industry. Our team, which is made up of marine professionals, mechanics, and enthusiasts from varying industrial backgrounds collectively provide a wide range of support and guidance to customers.
Our ‘can do’ attitude is what we believe sets us apart from others, and we bring the highest level of service to any job we do, no matter how big or small. Having a team that have worked in a magnitude of marine industry facets, we are well placed to meet your marine engineering requirements. Our care, commitment and enthusiasm for boats has resulted in us working directly with owners, builders, and suppliers to support a range of vessels.
Charlie
Charlie has had over 10 years professional experience working on modern and conventional diesel and petrol engines. He also has an excellent understanding of electrical engineering, and vehicles and vessels in general. Charlie is a certified Boat Master and Day Skipper and has worked on and operated all kinds of vessels, from superyachts and ferries to small yachts and trailer boats.
Before purchasing Eastern Marine in 2018, Charlie worked for Power Equipment New Zealand specialising in Yanmar marine and industrial engines. Prior to this, he received his Automotive Engineering qualification at Toyota New Zealand.
Laura
Laura has has a love for boats and the ocean for most of her life. Charlie and Laura purchased their first classic yacht when they were 20 years old and spent 4 years restoring her.
Before purchasing Eastern Marine, Laura worked as an Event Manager for a high end catering company. By bringing her management and organisation skills to the marine industry, she has modernised the workshop and its systems to bring their customers the best experience possible.
Eastern Marine aims to promote an environment where staff are encouraged to bring forward ideas and look for areas where improvement can be made both to systems and the workshop itself.
Lucas
Lucas joined Eastern Marine straight out of school at 17 years old with a love for all things mechanical. He has been with us for 4 years and will be qualified as a Marine Systems Engineer early this year. He is a Certified Mercury Outboard and Mercruiser technician.
Lucas has excelled in his field and continues to go from strength to strength. He is a capable engineer with a passion for boating.
Jordan
Jordan has lived on the Pohutakawa Coast his whole life, developing a passion for boating from a young age.
Previously working as a qualified Automotive Engineer for 5 years, Jordan has moved seemlessly into a Marine Engineering role at Eastern Marine, becoming a crucial member of the team.
Whatever the problem, Jordan will get it sorted!
Jaedyn
Also growing up on the Coast, Jaedyn has been a keen boatie all his life.
Previous to moving into a Marine Engineering role at Eastern Marine, Jaedyn worked as a qualified Automotive Technician for 5 years.
Jaedyn has a great work ethic and attitude and has made a great addition to our young, supportive team.
In his spare time, Jaedyn is out on the water enjoying the sun and catching some fish!
Nick
Nick is the newest member of the Eastern Marine team. He is young, enthusiastic and keen to learn the ropes.
Nick has grown up on the Pohutakawa Coast, where boating is in the blood. He enjoys working in the fast paced environment that the marina brings and is picking things up quickly.
Having started an apprenticeship in Marine Systems Engineering and working to become Mercury qualified, the future looks bright for Nick in the marine industry.
Judith
Judith is the longest standing employee at Eastern Marine Engineering. Having worked as administration manager in multiple workshop environments her entire working life, Judith is an asset to the Eastern Marine team.
Judith and her husband owned and operated the Caterpillar and John Deere agency in Blenheim specialising in heavy industrial machinery for over 25 years. During this time, she spent her free time boating out on the Queen Charlotte Sound.
All of her 3 sons have become mechanics in different facets of the marine industry.
Judith keeps our accounts in tip-top shape and helps with implementing new systems and keeping the processes steamlined and accurate.
Moon
No one loves boats more than Moon.
Although she won’t be working on your engine, Moon keeps the team and the wider marina entertained and happy with her friendly, loving and welcoming personality.
