We take pride in practical problem solving, attention to detail, and delivering reliable results for every vessel we work on. Each team member plays a key role in ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.
Charlie
Charlie is the owner and director of Eastern Marine Engineering.
With extensive hands-on experience in marine engineering, Charlie leads the business across both workshop operations and project delivery. He is actively involved in diagnostics, complex repairs, and overseeing day-to-day work in the yard.
Charlie built the company around practical, real-world engineering solutions and maintains a strong focus on quality, reliability, and getting vessels back on the water efficiently.
He remains directly involved in all major projects and sets the standard for workmanship across the team.
Laura
Laura is a co-owner of Eastern Marine Engineering and is responsible for operations, administration, and event management.
With a background in event management, she brings strong organisational skills to the business, overseeing coordination, scheduling, and customer communication.
She also has a genuine interest in boating and the marine environment, which helps shape how the business is run and ensures it stays closely connected to the industry and its customers.
Lucas
Lucas is a qualified Marine Systems Engineer with experience across mechanical, electrical, and propulsion systems. He has been with Eastern Marine since the start of 2021 at the ripe age of 17.
He completed his apprenticeship through hands-on workshop training at Eastern Marine and now works across a broad range of marine engineering tasks, including installations, servicing, and diagnostics.
Lucas is focused on precision workmanship and continues to build strong technical expertise across all areas of marine systems.
Jordan
Jordan is a qualified Marine Systems Engineer as well as a qualified and experienced Automotive Engineer. Jordan has been with Eastern Marine since the start of 2022.
He is known for his reliability and willingness to take on complex, challenging tasks and see them through to the end.
He has strong diagnostic skills and is actively involved in servicing, maintenance, general mechanical work and fabrication (of just about anything).
Jaedyn
Jaedyn is a qualified Automotive Engineer who is currently working towards his apprenticeship in Marine Systems Engineering.
He brings strong mechanical knowledge from the automotive industry and is quickly developing his skills in a marine environment.
Jaedyn works across a range of workshop tasks, including servicing, maintenance, and general engineering support, while building hands-on experience in marine-specific systems alongside the rest of the team.
Nick
Nick is an apprentice at Eastern Marine Engineering. Prior to this he had gained extensive experience in Automotive Collision Repair and Refinishing.
He followed his passion for boating and life on the water into the marine industry, starting fresh with Eastern Marine in 2024. Since then, he’s been learning on the job across a wide range of marine engineering tasks, including general maintenance, servicing, and workshop support work.
Nick is building his skills day by day and gaining hands-on experience across different areas of the business, working closely with the rest of the team to develop his understanding of marine systems and practical engineering work.
GUNDY
Gundy’s a qualified automotive tech who’s recently jumped ship into the marine world—and he’s absolutely loving it.
Growing up on the Pohutukawa Coast, he’s been around boats his whole life, so you could say this move was always on the horizon. He brings a steady hand, sharp skills, and a proper passion for all things on the water.
Safe to say he’s found his sea legs pretty quickly and is already making waves with the team.
Judith
Judith is the longest-standing member of Eastern Marine Engineering and plays a key role in administration and workshop coordination.
With a background in both office management and industrial operations, she brings extensive experience and structure to the business. Judith has worked alongside her husband in heavy machinery and engineering environments for over 25 years, developing a deep understanding of the marine and mechanical industries.
She is responsible for keeping accounts and systems running smoothly, and ensures processes across the business remain organised, accurate, and efficient.
Her attention to detail and commitment to consistency make her a vital part of the Eastern Marine team.
Moon
No one loves boats more than Moon.
Although she won’t be working on your engine, Moon keeps the team and the wider marina entertained and happy with her friendly, loving and welcoming personality.
