Mercury MerCruiser Exhaust Water Shutter Kit

The Mercury MerCruiser 807166A1 Water Shutter Kit is a genuine OEM exhaust protection component designed to prevent water from flowing back into the engine through the exhaust system. Installed in the Y-pipe, the shutter acts as a one-way valve, allowing exhaust gases to exit while helping prevent water intrusion from following seas, backwash, or rough-water conditions.

This shutter assembly is commonly used on 1996 and newer MerCruiser V6 and V8 sterndrive engines equipped with 4-inch exhaust systems. The kit includes one shutter and two mounting grommets for installation. The shutter measures approximately 2.48″ at the hinge pin and is designed as a direct OEM replacement.

Regular inspection and replacement of exhaust shutters is recommended, as damaged or missing shutters can allow water to enter the engine, potentially causing severe internal damage.
