Mercury MerCruiser Idle Air Control Valve (IAC)

The Mercury MerCruiser 8M0181068 Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) is a genuine Mercury Marine OEM fuel system component designed for selected MerCruiser MPI engines equipped with the ECM 555 engine control module. The idle air control valve regulates the amount of air bypassing the throttle plate, allowing the engine management system to maintain a smooth and stable idle speed under varying operating conditions.

A properly functioning IAC valve is critical for reliable engine operation. Common symptoms of a faulty valve include rough idle, stalling, hard starting, fluctuating idle speed and poor low-speed performance. Replacing a worn or sticking idle air control valve can restore smooth engine operation and improve overall drivability.

The 8M0181068 valve is commonly used on MerCruiser 3.0L MPI, 5.0L MPI, 5.7L MPI, 6.2L MPI, 8.1L MPI and selected V6 MPI engines equipped with ECM 555 engine management systems. This part supersedes earlier Mercury part number 862998. A new gasket may be required when replacing the valve.
