The Mercury Marine 8M6004831 Resistor Cap NMEA is a genuine Mercury OEM NMEA 2000 network termination resistor designed to provide proper end-of-line termination for NMEA 2000 and SmartCraft Connect networks. Installed at the female end of the NMEA 2000 backbone, this terminator helps eliminate signal reflections and ensures reliable communication between connected marine electronics and engine systems.
Proper termination is critical for any NMEA 2000 network. Without a terminator installed at each end of the backbone, network communication can become unstable, resulting in intermittent device connectivity, missing engine data, communication faults and unreliable system performance. The 8M6004831 resistor cap provides the correct resistance required by the NMEA 2000 standard to maintain network integrity.
Manufactured to Mercury Marine specifications, the terminator features a waterproof, marine-grade design suitable for harsh marine environments. It is commonly used with SmartCraft Connect gateways, VesselView systems, multifunction displays, chartplotters, sensors and other NMEA 2000-compatible devices.
For a complete NMEA 2000 backbone installation, one male terminator and one female terminator must be fitted—one at each end of the network. The 8M6004831 female resistor cap is typically paired with the Mercury 8M6004830 Male Resistor Cap.
