The Mercury Marine 12886A6 Oil Tank Switch Assembly is a genuine Mercury OEM oil level sensor designed for selected Mercury and Mariner two-stroke outboard engines. Installed in the engine-mounted oil reservoir, this switch monitors oil levels and sends a signal to the engine warning system when oil levels become low, helping protect the engine from lubrication-related damage.
A properly functioning oil tank switch is critical to the operation of Mercury’s oil injection system. When oil levels drop below the specified level, the switch activates the warning circuit, alerting the operator to refill the reservoir before engine damage can occur. Faulty switches can result in false low-oil alarms or failure to warn of a genuine low-oil condition.
